Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve (RLN)

A nerve that controls all intrinsic muscles of the larynx except for the cricothyroid muscle. These muscles act to open, close, and adjust the tension of the vocal folds, and include the posterior cricoarytenoid muscles, the only muscles that open the vocal cords.[1]
