Posterior Cricoarytenoid

A paired intrinsic laryngeal muscle that originates on the posterior surface of the cricoid cartilage and inserts into the posterior muscular process of the arytenoid cartilages. Contraction of these muscles results in abduction of the vocal folds.[1]
