The perception of sensations arising from inside the body. Interoception helps an individual understand how they sense their internal state of being. Sensations arising from inside the body inform our knowledge of our place in space (proprioception) and movement through space (kinesthesis), and include the bone-conducted vibrations that inform our knowledge of our own voice while singing. Compare with exteroception.[1]
