A phonation related to vocal fry which can occur at higher frequencies and is characterized by a perception of roughness and the presence of sub-harmonics in the glottal waveform. Creaky voice acquires its name because it gives the perception of a creaking door. It can be used to train competent glottal closure in M1 or M2.[1]
