Arytenoid Cartilages

Structures within the larynx involved in vocal fold adduction and abduction; maintenance of approximation in resistance to the subglottal breath pressure is accomplished via action of the lateral cricoarytenoid and interarytenoid muscles. Abduction is accomplished via action of the posterior cricoarytenoids. Located superior to the posterior portion of the cricoid cartilage.[1]
