Abdominal Breathing

Breathing which is evident primarily from abdominal movement, with abdominal expansion caused by the descent of the diaphragm plus release of abdominal muscles and displacement of the viscera for inhalation, alternating with contraction of abdominal muscles and compression of the viscera for exhalation. Also known as “belly breathing.”[1]
